Rainy Day Tours is locally owned and operated by the husband-and-wife duo Garri Thomas and Art Shayen. Art is from Hydaburg, Alaska on Prince of Wales Island. It's a small Haida village of about 400. He is from the Haida native tribe and the Eagle Frog Clan. As a lifelong Ketchikan resident, Art is very familiar with Ketchikan's history, native culture, local sights and wildlife. He has been in the tour business for over 15 years and will make sure you see the Ketchikan he knows and loves. Garri was also born and raised in Ketchikan. She is from the Tlingit tribe and the Raven clan. Together, with their knowledge and experience, you will definitely get the best tour Ketchikan has to offer!
Ketchikan is on Revillagigedo Island, 679 miles north of Seattle, Washington and 777 air miles from Anchorage, Alaska. We are accessible only by boat or aircraft. The population of the Ketchikan Gateway Borough is 13,477. Our economy is based on timber harvesting, fishing, and tourism.
The fishing industry is supported by four canneries, three cold storage facilities and a fish processing plant. Cruise ships carrying over 1 million visitors make more than 435 stops in Ketchikan yearly.
Average precipitation is 162 inches each year roughly raining about 300 days a year, including 32 inches of snow and our average temperature is 42.
